This look came together for a themed nightclub event hosted by Xmortis, which was centered around a Midsummer concept. While the theme could have gone in several different directions, I decided to take a more imaginative route rather than a literal one. Instead of leaning into the horror film Midsommar, I drew inspiration from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and mythological elements. I wanted something whimsical, slightly dark, and otherworldly, with a strong feminine presence. The end result was what I now call the Blue Horned Lady, a fantasy-inspired character that blends nature, mythology, and nightlife energy.
Concept & Inspiration
The idea was to create something that felt like a mystical forest entity stepping into a modern setting. There was a subtle influence from fauns or Pan-like creatures, but reimagined in a more feminine and stylized way. Instead of going literal, I focused on:
- Horns as the central feature
- Nature elements like florals and fruit
- Bold color choices to make the look stand out in a dark environment
It became a mix of fantasy and nightlife glamour.
The Horn Design
The horns were the statement piece of the entire look. I started with a black horn base and then experimented with adding embellishments. This part required a lot of trial and error before committing.
- Attached fall-toned flowers for texture and color
- Tested layouts both with and without grapes
- Took comparison photos to evaluate balance and composition
The grapes ended up being the final decision. They added dimension and gave the horns a more lush, almost decadent look that fit the character perfectly. Once I confirmed the design, everything was secured into place.
Wig Styling
The wig needed some light customization to make it more wearable.
- Thinned slightly to reduce bulk
- Brushed out to prevent tangling
- Focused on the nape area to minimize friction at the back of the neck
These small adjustments made a big difference, especially for a setting where I would be moving around a lot.
Makeup & Color Choices
The makeup was where the character really came to life. One of the standout features was the blue eyebrows. I tested different products beforehand and found that a specific eyeliner worked incredibly well for achieving that bold, vibrant color. It was one of those moments where experimentation paid off. There was also some playful back-and-forth leading up to the event. People kept joking about whether I would actually go through with the blue eyebrows, and it made the final reveal even more fun.
Nails & Details
I considered multiple options for nails and ended up getting feedback before committing.
- Blue nails were the final choice
- They tied the entire look together and reinforced the color story
It is a small detail, but it made a noticeable difference in the overall cohesion of the costume.
Accessories
One of the more unique elements was a statement piece worn around the neck. The way it draped and beaded across the front created a rib-like visual effect, adding a slightly darker, more structured contrast to the otherwise organic design. It gave the character a bit of edge while still fitting within the fantasy aesthetic.
Contacts & Practical Adjustments
The contacts looked incredible, but they came with a major limitation. Visibility was extremely reduced, especially in a dark nightclub setting. Because of that, I made a practical decision:
- Wore only one contact instead of both
This turned into an unexpected creative opportunity. Instead of breaking the illusion, it added to the character. It created a subtle narrative, as if the transformation was in progress rather than complete. It is a good reminder that sometimes practicality can enhance creativity instead of limiting it.
Outfit Base
The base of the outfit was intentionally simple.
- Basic black dress
The goal was to let the headpiece, makeup, and accessories carry the look. The dress served as a neutral foundation rather than a focal point.
Event Experience
The nightclub setting was the perfect place for this kind of look. The lighting, atmosphere, and overall energy made the details stand out in a completely different way compared to a daytime event. This is one of those environments where you can really push creative boundaries and experiment with more dramatic concepts.

Most of the components from this cosplay are still in storage.

The black dress was eventually removed from my collection because it did not fit as well as I wanted. The contacts were, of course, temporary and properly discarded after use.
Final Thoughts
This was one of those cosplays that came together through experimentation and instinct. It was:
- Creative and flexible in concept
- Built through trial and visual testing
- Adapted for real-world practicality
- Perfect for a themed nightlife setting
It also reinforced how fun it can be to interpret a theme loosely and create something entirely your own. If you ever find yourself going to a themed event, especially something like a nightclub, it is the perfect opportunity to step outside the usual boundaries and create a character like this.
